Opera Extravaganza

Celebrate the wonderfully wide range of Opera music many people love, some will know, and come to love. Johannesburg Opera presents its first Opera Extravaganza to the people of Johannesburg and Gauteng. It is a concert to celebrate a voice, comedy, and life and death in opera. This is a concert for the whole family to attend, a great way to end Autumn on a Sunday afternoon, and aims to captivate every audience member and lead them on a journey of Opera.

Music to be heard include the beautiful Casta Diva from Norma, the seductive Habanera from Carmen, O Carlo ascolta, from Don Carlo, Adina credimi, a finale from Act 1 of LÉlisir d’Amore, Ungabe Usayikhalela from uZiyankomo, the forbidden fruit and Placido è il mar from Idomeneo, just to name a few.

For this special concert, Johannesburg Opera present amazing artists of four soloists: Soprano, Khayakazi Madlala, Mezzo-Soprano, Aukse Trinkunas, Tenor, Phenye Modiane, Baritone, Solly Motaung, and Ijadu Chorus, and will be accompanied by Eugene Joubert on piano, supported by Johannesburg Opera strings. This special concert will be conductor by Thami Zungu and directed by Marcus Desando.
